Cookie Policy & Tracking Technologies

Last Revised: January 1, 2025 • Effective Date: January 1, 2025

1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?

Cookies are small text data files stored on your browser or device by web servers when you navigate internet sites. Similar client-side technologies include `sessionStorage` and `localStorage`, which allow web applications to maintain state across pages without continuously pinging external databases.

2. How OptiSettings Employs Cookies & Web Storage

OptiSettings employs minimal storage mechanisms strictly categorized into three functional groups:

Strictly Necessary Cookies & Session StateAlways Active

Required for basic user interface functions, maintaining selected hardware components during page navigation, preserving your cookie banner decision (`cookie_consent`), and ensuring CSRF security. These cannot be switched off in our systems.

Performance & Anonymous TelemetryRequires Consent

Used to measure aggregate page loading times, client-side calculation latencies, and browser error rates so we can optimize rendering performance. All metrics are aggregated and anonymized.

Marketing & Partner AttributionRequires Consent

Used to attribute referral traffic from hardware communities and measure conversion on optional affiliate partner links. Never activated without your explicit consent.

3. How to Manage and Revoke Your Consent

You may modify or revoke your cookie choices at any time by refreshing the page and accessing the "Manage Preferences" modal on the Cookie Consent banner. Additionally, all modern web browsers allow you to block, inspect, or delete cookies through browser preference menus (Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and site data).
